Ricardo Gomes is professor of Particle Physics at the Federal University of Goias, Brazil. He got his PhD in Physics at the University of Campinas, Brazil (2005) on the KTeV experiment at FERMILAB, where he studied hyperon physics and CP violation in the neutral kaon system. In 2009, he created a High Energy Physics group at Goias and switched his research interests to neutrino and cosmic-ray physics. He won a Fulbright award as visiting scientist at Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) in 2013.

His current research activities include precise neutrino-oscillation measurements, sterile neutrinos and cosmic-ray topics such as muon seasonal variation and charge ratio in both experimental and phenomenological studies. For the past two years he has served as convener of the “Physics of the Universe” working group of the MINOS/MINOS+ experiment, and is also a collaborator on the NOvA experiment and the DUNE project. On NOvA and DUNE he is working in the neutrino disapearance and Monte Carlo simulation groups.
